Amy’s Ant was created by Jack Dennis around the year 2000 on Wyoming’s Snake River system, pushing foam‑fly design into a whole new era. Named after his daughter Amy, the pattern quickly earned a reputation for being tough, buoyant, and wildly versatile.
Despite its name, Amy’s Ant is anything but a strict ant imitation. Its chunky foam profile, rubber legs, and layered materials allow it to cross over seamlessly as a cicada, hopper, or stonefly. The larger sizes are especially effective during golden stone and nocturnal stonefly activity, but the fly also shines as a general searching pattern throughout terrestrial season.
Durable, high‑floating, and capable of imitating multiple big‑bug food sources, Amy’s Ant is one of those modern attractors that simply gets eaten.
